Today, we went over the USACO competition. You can register for USACO at contest.usaco.org, and you can find lots of helpful practice problems at train.usaco.org.

We also gave the second problem of the week, which can be found in the meeting slides. Even if you did not do last week’s, there are still plenty of weeks to catch up.

At today’s meeting Virup gave an illustrated lecture on the flood fill algorithm.

A couple reminders:  Today is the last day to take the US Open, so if you have not taken it yet but plan to, do it soon! Also, as we have repeated many times, turn in your membership dues if you have not done so!

If you have yet to turn in your membership dues, please remember to bring your dues to the next meeting! We know who hasn’t paid yet, and you know who you are as well!

Also, the USACO US Open will be taking place this coming weekend, from April 28 to May 2. Be sure not to miss it!

Today we continued our lecture on regular expressions, covering several example applications of regular expressions as well as some other regular expression concepts.
Also, we returned the results for the ACSL of last week. Let the officers know if you want to see your result but were not at the meeting today.

If you still have not turned in your membership dues, please do so ASAP! The dues are still the same as they always have been ($15, cash or check to Lynbrook ASB – Computer Science).
As a clarification, these dues apply regardless of whether or not you took the ACSL.

Today Karthik gave a lecture on regular expressions, which have a variety of applications, both on CS contests and elsewhere.

If you have not turned in your membership dues yet, please do so ASAP! As it always has been, the dues are $15 in either cash or check payable to Lynbrook ASB – Computer Science.

We did not mention it at this meeting, but the Harker Programming Invitational took place the Saturday before last. Lynbrook as a school did very well, taking first, third, and fourth place! Detailed results for each team are posted at http://contest.frankli.org/archive/hpi2011/.

Happy π day! Today we went over problems from last Monday’s written portion of the ACSL, covering topics such as graph theory and boolean algebra.

Note that today is the last day to take the March USACO, so if you are planning on taking it but have not done so yet, make sure you do so soon!

Also, if you still have not turned in your membership dues ($15, cash or check payable to Lynbrook ASB – Computer Science), please remember to do so ASAP (where “ASAP” means “next meeting”).
